There were lots of great outcomes from Sun N Fun this year! We spoke to 3,165 individuals either out by the Kodiak or inside the tent – an increase of 70% compared to 2016. One new idea for this year’s tent was the “green screen” where we took a photo of people and placed them into an MAF field program location. Once we took a person’s photo, we emailed it to him/her with a thank you message and a link to the MAF website. The green screen drew a lot of attention and positive comments from people. Other highlights included raising over $2,500 in cash donations and receiving 11 new Advocate prospects.

MAF missionaries raise support for a pooled fund out of which MAF covers their salary, housing, benefits and their related ministry expenses. This shared resource allows salaries and benefits to be covered in full, accommodating any fluctuation in actual monthly gifts received. All MAF missionaries have the same minimum support target, regardless of their geographic area of ministry. Actual expenses for each missionary will vary by field location, ministry position, and family situation. Click the link below for a further explanation of MAF missionary support and a breakdown of missionary expenses.
Advocates are a great resource for MAF missionaries as you are often the link between missionaries and churches and/or giving individuals. Consider how you can further your ministry as an Advocate by partnering with churches in your area who already support certain MAF missionaries and keep them informed OR partnering with MAF missionaries on furlough and helping them share about their ministry with local churches, small groups or homes in your area.
To the Elders and the Flock
1 Peter 5:1-11
To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
5 In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. -2 Corinthians 4:16-18

The Ministry Awareness leadership team wants to encourage you to be ‘fishers of men’! There are SO many personnel needs around the MAF world and we must expand our networks to connect with good candidates. Did you know we need 10-15 pilot/mechanics plus teachers and IT technicians EVERY YEAR? Would you be part of the team to find good candidates? Do you know people…or know people who know people who:
- Are teachers with 1 or more years of experience who would like a short or long-term adventure?
- Are experienced pilots and mechanics with a heart for missions…or who love Jesus and don’t know about missionary aviation? Wouldn’t you love to introduce them to the idea?!
- Are still in high school or college, interested in aviation or technology, love Jesus, and are searching for their future path?
- Are CFI’s with at least a year of experience for our school in Southeast Asia? Folks who have a heart for flight instruction and want to serve God.
Please use the links below for more information on MAF’s current needs, to connect with the recruiting staff in your area, and to share the ministry needs with others. You may also contact your Regional Manager or the Ministry Awareness team at email@example.com for hard copies of flyers, brochures or any other information.
Thank you for partnering in our efforts to find people to make an impact
for the isolated people of the earth!!
